Sewing is a skill that has served me well. It has helped out in time of need when money was tight, helped me make special one of a kind gifts, and has provided me with an abundant outlet for creativity. Kids that learn to sew also learn to have patience and self confidence. I think that all kids should learn some basic sewing. Here are my post about sewing with my grand kids.
First sewing lessons don't need to be hard. Here's how I first began to teach my grand daughters to sew.
It's a rainy day here in sunny AZ. No not typical but it's nice to have. Of course I will be ready for it all to leave by tomorrow and return the sunshine to us. It seems the weather has been a little wonky around the nation this winter. Sort of can't make up it's mind what season it is or something. Where ever you are I hope you are enjoying this Saturday morning. Please take a few minutes to read our linkers here and enjoy their stories too. It's so good to have you here :)
This is a link up for older bloggers; you don't need to be a grandparent to ink up.Link up to three post, not to your home page, and link that back to Family Home and Life. While you are here I hope you will visit the other linkers and come back to see who links up later. We all love comments! No Etsy shops or giveaways please. This link closes on Monday night.
Be sure to visit Lisa at Grandma's Briefs to join her linky, GRAND Social, on Mondays. Thank you for linking up with me!
Remember that garage sale stuff I bought a while back? There were a couple of Pool Noodles in the pile that I re-purposed. It was fun and I found several uses for them around the house. I could have used a few more!
1. I love this Tooth Fairy Pillow Book I made for my grand daughter. 2. Here's how to easily personalize a clock for yourself or a gift. I used a vintage graphic from the Graphics Fairy on one clock.
3. Butter Buns; need I say more? 4. I really loved designing and making this cloth Photo Album. It was fun and turned out great. 5. I am having more fun making these Pancakes different ways. Use apple sauce or any fruit puree, use oil instead of cream cheese, add more flour and switch up the spices. Very versatile and so good. 6. I like making my own scrapbook papers using PicMonkey. It's a great creative outlet and it was free; PicMonkey now charges for some of it's features. I have used Ribbet on occasion too.
Happy Saturday! It has warmed up here to normal AZ winter weather temps and I am glad! You could tell I'm an AZ native when I wear two pairs of sweats and turn the house temp to 74 degrees all because we dipped to freezing temperatures this last week. I know I am a light weight and I wouldn't make it in a colder climate. It's good to see 60 plus degrees again! How are you enjoying your winter weather?
I love butter; I've never been a big fan of margarine. Butter is better for you than margarine too. Haven't you seen that email forward that's been going around for years or maybe the article on Facebook about the horrors of margarine? No? Well check this out, or this. Ok, are you convinced butter is better? There are a couple of problems with using butter however. Straight out of the fridge it's

Hey kids, want to have some fun using the computer with PicMonkey? It's really easy to do and you can make lots of fun pictures. Start with a blank picture by scanning a blank sheet of paper into your computer. (or make a copy of any photo, it will be covered anyway, just make sure it is a copy ) Open a window in *PicMonkey, click 'Edit a Photo' and up load your blank paper scan. Then.....
Good grief! I sat down for a minute to see what's happening on the blog and remembered 'it's Friday night' !!! Yikes, where's my post for Saturday? This week was.....well what was this week? Because of some changes in my adult kids work schedules with the beginning of this new year I have really been put to use.I had grand kids 12 hours a day for 4 days straight, and 8 hours today (Friday). With the long days I also was responsible for getting the oldest to school a couple of days, with several other kids in tow I might add; and picking her up from school with before mentioned kids in tow.
I am looking back on some of my past post. I hope you will look with me!

You all know that I love to re-purpose and use what I already have. I went thrifting and found some things I could re-purpose at a yard sale. I paid five dollars for it all. Here is the first item I re-purposed....
Good morning! How are you all doing this fine day? I am proud of myself.....I actually got around to all of you who linked up last week to comment! I typically have a little extra time between Christmas and New Years and I like to use that time to do things around my house that I can't do or don't have the time to do when all the grand kids are around. Some how I always fool myself into thinking I have more time than I really do. I really didn't get a thing done this last week except those comments :) Oh well, I can try again another time; all those projects seem to wait for me. How about you? Do you take it easy after the Holidays or are you busy with after Christmas sales, cleaning and organizing or something else?
Welcome to Wow Us Wednesday, the first link up of the new year here at Family Home and Life. Thank you for stopping by! I know a lot of you have new goals and plans for the coming year. I would love to tell you that I do too and I have it all figured out and that I am ready to hit the ground running........but that is not the case. I always take a bit of a breather after Christmas and then give myself some time to make new plans. I have some ideas, but nothing in the works yet. Stay tuned to see what happens!
The most clicked link was.....Second Chance to Dream; Barb gave us a free printable worksheet for our new year goals. I love this one because she has a well rounded goal sheet. Thanks Barb!
